The veto override session disrupted the regular legislative schedule this week. However, you can review what happened last week at the legislature below:
Criminal Justice: Unfortunately, HB 365 and HB 700, bills that we are opposing with leadership from our partners at VOTE, Justice and Accountability Center (JAC), MOMS Demand Action, and LA Center for Children’s Rights both passed the House last week. These bills seek to further criminalize Black and brown people, with HB 700 targeting juveniles. We will continue to oppose these bills and will keep you updated on how you can get involved.
Fair Housing: HB 160, which would protect renters from being kicked out of their homes after a natural disaster, passed unanimously out of committee this Tuesday thanks to the leadership of LA Fair Housing Action Center!

HB 449 Passes the Senate Unanimously! HB 553 Passes the Senate with Amendments.
