Our Partner in Early Care and Education Advocacy
The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children is an independent source of data, research, and pertinent information for policymakers, stakeholders, and the public at large around issues related to young children in Louisiana. The Policy Institute also develops policy proposals informed by research, best practices, and the experiences of other states and conducts educational and outreach activities around these recommended policy solutions.

Shreveport Early Childhood Education Update
Scholarships Available
Following the success of CFNLA’s Early Childhood Education Initiative, in August of 2022, the City of Shreveport allocated just under $3 million in permanent funding for early childcare scholarships. The City of Shreveport, CFNLA, and Caddo Smart Start will host three community events where qualifying families can apply for scholarships and learn about other community services. Dates are as follows:
- David Raines Community Center- March 25, 10:00 am-12:00 pm
- Bilberry Park Community Center- April 15, 10:00 am-12:00 pm
- A.B. Palmer Community Center- April 29, 10:00 am-12:00 pm
