Here’s what happened last week at the Louisiana Legislature:
Electoral Justice: Power Coalition’s Priority, HB 680, which would require that changes of polling location be published on the Secretary of State website in an easy to access and efficient manner, moved favorably out of committee with amendments and will head to the House Floor!
Criminal Justice: HB 746, which would ban solitary confinement in youth prisons, moved favorably out of committee and heads to the House Floor. A huge S/O to our partners at VOTE, LCCR, and JAC for leading on this important bill!
Education Justice: HB 649, which would prohibit corporal punishment in schools, passed favorably out of committee and will move to the House Floor. A huge S/O to our partners at Louisiana Partnership for Children and Families for their leadership on this bill.
