Here’s what happened last week at the Louisiana Legislature:
Electoral Justice: Power Coalition’s legislative priority, HCR 14, which would commission a study and recommendations for barriers to voters with disabilities passed favorably out of committee with amendments and will head to the House floor!
Criminal Justice: HB 648, which would increase the amount for the crime reparations fund and broaden the timeline for applying, passed favorably out of committee and will head to the House floor. We are so appreciative of the leadership from Louisiana Survivors for Reform on this necessary bill!
Health Justice: SB 60, would allow doctors to perform a blood test for controlled dangerous substances on new mothers within 8 hours of delivery was killed in committee. Huge S/O Frankie Robertson and the Maternal Child Health Coalition for their leadership in opposing this horrible bill!
