Power Forum: Orleans School Board Districts 6 & 7
The Power Forums are Power Coalition’s Candidate Forums. These forums are an opportunity to hear from your prospective elected officials on issues that you care about in your community and everyday lives. When you pledge to be a Power Voter, you are pledging to hold your elected officials accountable.
Orleans Parish School Board is made up of seven members and is the duly elected school board in New Orleans. Though Orleans Parish is an all-charter school system, the OPSB still has the right to choose to directly run schools. OPSB can also authorize contracts for charter schools to operate in Orleans Parish, and revoke their contract and close their school if they’re found to be in breach of contract.
