Artists & Advocates Join Forces to Call for an Equitable and Just City Budget

Election Day Power and Praise Giveaway

The Power Coalition for Equity and Justice (PCEJ) and our partners will be joining forces to give out care boxes with food, masks, hygiene products, and voter education materials.

BATON ROUGE, LA | December 3, 2020—This Saturday, December 5 during the runoff election in Louisiana, Power Coalition for Equity and Justice and our partners will be giving out care boxes with food, masks, hygiene products, and voter education materials.

From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice (PCEJ),  Beacon of Light of Baton Rouge, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, and Elm Grove Baptist Church will be handing out these care boxes for free to anyone in the community who needs these resources. “Throughout this election season, we have been working with faith leaders across the state to make sure people have some relief by providing food boxes and hot meals to the community while trying to boost voter turnout,” said Power Coalition organizer, Kaitlyn Joshua.

“Faith Institutions are some of the most independent, stable, and dominant institutions in their communities,” added Elder Eric A. Williams of Beacon of Light, Baton Rouge. “As an anchor in our community we want to ensure that our community has access and knowledge to cast their vote.”

Power Coalition has been mobilizing voters of color across Louisiana for months now. Through phone banking, texting, canvassing, and mailers Power Coalition has reached thousands of voters a day. “We had historic turnout for the presidential election and we need you to do it one more time. Do not leave your voice and power table. Do not sit this election out,” said Power Coalition Executive Director, Ashley Shetlon.
