Katherine Walden

Program Coordinator

Katherine (Kat) Walden graduated from Temple University  with a Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Community Engagement. She worked for the Petey Greene Program, which recruited and trained college students to provide free tutoring in prisons and jails, before coming to New Orleans. Once in New Orleans, she worked with the Unanimous Jury Coalition, helping to overturn a Jim Crow-era law that allowed non-unanimous juries to convict someone of a felony. She then served as an Education Program Coordinator for Operation Restoration, an organization that provides re-entry services and tools for currently and formerly incarcerated women and girls. She is excited to now be working as the Program Coordinator for the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice (PCEJ), where she can put her skills and experience to work putting power in the hands of people who care, hear, and represent our Black and Brown communities. Kat is determined to fight for the rights of people and ensure their humanity is always front and center.
